Job Summary:
The Proteomics Scientist will be responsible for conducting research and utilizing advanced proteomic techniques to study protein structure, function, and interactions. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of proteomic methodologies, analyze and interpret complex proteomic data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive scientific discoveries and support project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experiments to investigate protein expression, identification, quantification, and characterization using cutting-edge proteomic techniques.
- Develop and optimize sample preparation protocols for protein extraction, purification, and enrichment.
- Utilize mass spectrometry-based methods, such as LC-MS/MS, to identify and quantify proteins, post-translational modifications, and protein-protein interactions.
- Analyze and interpret proteomic data to generate meaningful insights and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide expertise and support in proteomics and molecular biology techniques.
- Maintain and troubleshoot proteomic instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
- Stay abreast of latest advancements in proteomics and contribute to the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and contribute to a safe and productive work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Proteomics, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in proteomic methodologies, including protein extraction, purification, and identification using mass spectrometry-based techniques.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis software and bioinformatics tools commonly used in proteomics, such as MaxQuant, Mascot, Proteome Discoverer, and ProteinPilot.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and interpretation of proteomic data.
- Experience in protein quantification techniques, such as label-free quantification, SILAC, or TMT.
- Familiarity with post-translational modification analysis and characterization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to effectively handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate and contribute in a multidisciplinary research environment.
